Let’s talk about the versatility of a shift dress how it is an absolute closet essential in today’s post. Firstly, The ‘Shift Dress’ is called so because a) it’s easy breezy to move about in and b) it reflects the shift in culture around the time it emerged into the fashion foreground. Over the years the shift dress has been reinvented to work with current times, but to be specific it hung from the shoulders in a straight or a-line cut, was generally sleeveless and the length hit right above the knee -retaining that 100% cuteness level. Just to be on top of things – a shift dress is meant to show off your arms and legs making you look taller, and is not figure hugging by nature. But a good a-line is one that makes you appear slimmer, only buy them if they aren’t pulling on parts of your body, these also help mask broad hips and if you have a slim waist belt it up to draw attention to the best parts of your body.
Since you now see how versatile the dress is and how it can be worn in just about any season, I’m going to leave you with tips on how to change it up & accessorizing this one. During the winter you can layer it on a white shirt or a printed shirt/blouse deepening on the colour and print of your dress. You could also layer with light cardigans, blazers or leather jackets. Accessories can make & break this look, stick to bright colours to make a statement and you could also go with chunky pieces of jewelry deepening on the occasion and mood. To keep warm you could also pair this dress with leggings and knee-high socks and boots. You can do just about anything in terms of shoes, except for flip-flops that can totally ruin the look. Pair this dress with bold flatworms in bright colours, white sneakers would look amazing on this, chunky heels if you’re going to a party, or open toed sandals to brunch and ballet flats if you’re on your way to work. The possibilities are endless with this one.
